Roberts mixes DAB and internet radio with the Stream 202

Roberts_stream

It might have slightly retro looks, but the Roberts Stream 202 is every bit the modern radio.

Not just DAB and FM (as you would expect from Roberts), but wi-fi connectivity, which means you can also pick up internet radio, including the BBC's 'Listen Again' shows. And you can stream your digital music from your PC to the radio.

Other features include 15 presets, two alarm timers and connectivity for your iPod. Available in silver or black, it retails for £149.99.

Wooden Knuckle Duster

Wood_knuckles

Here at Switched On Set, we don't encourage violence. In fact, we're dead against it. But if you happen to be the local gangster on the look out for some stylish kit, you might want to try the Wooden Knuckle Duster.

Or better still, just keep them on display to show how 'hard' you are - hitting someone with them will run the risk of ruining the shape. After all, this has been handcrafted by Mitch Roberson from walnut and we'd hate to see his hard work go to waste.

Available to order online, it's yours for $40 (around £20).

Pisa - the bookshelf you can use anywhere

Pisa

Why Pisa? Well, that's obvious - because it's leaning.

And that means you can use this Matt Carr-designed shelving unit anywhere you need it - there's no requirement to have a completely flat floor and there's nothing to fix to a wall.

And as an added bonus, the dark wood veneer makes it a stylish piece of design. Available now, you can pick one up for £235.

Levi's ultra limited edition Red Tab mobile phone now available to order

Levi_red

Forget the iPhone, Prad phone or any other fashion handset - if you want real exclusivity, you need to get your hands on the Levi's ultra limited edition Red Tab mobile phone. There's just 100 available to order - and we know where they are.

They are being sold online via cool Parisian retailer Colette - we've just checked the Levi's mobile site and there's not even a mention of this model there, so we're guessing this is retailer specific.

Looks-wise, it has that famous red tab on the top, while feature-wise it has an MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth and a two megapixel camera with flash. Extras include a 'premium' presentation box, a case for the handset, stereo handsfree kit, a metal chain and if you like, customisation with your name (up to 13 letters).

Not cheap obviously - yours for 549 Euros. But with just 100 available, it's unlikely to be around for long.

Electrolux Inspiro - the world's most intelligent oven

Inspiro

Your average oven isn't exactly a hotbed of technology - although that could be about to change with the introduction of the Electrolux Inspiro.

It's the first of a new generation of oven - one that can't burn your dinner. Rather than just measuring the air temperature with a thermometer and regulating it with a thermostat (like your standard oven), this one uses sensors to calculate the precise combination of energy consumption and time needed to bring the food to the correct temperature.

So to cook a lamb joint, select the category, your taste (rare, medium, well done), then sit back. The oven calculates the heat and cooking method required, allowing you to sit back in confidence. It's available from August 2008, priced at £1,000.

Confetti shelf system - art or function?

Confetti

Minimalism is all well and good, but sometimes you just need that splash of colour. Something that the Confetti shelf system offers by the bucketload.

It uses a multitude of four-colour tiles as a backdrop and best of all, you can swap them around to create your own individual look or piece of personal art. Once you've sorted out your colour scheme, you just slip your frosted acrylic shelves into place. Although to be honest, it seems a shame to stick your bits and pieces in front of something so stunning.

Designed by Per Bäckström, it retails for £225.

Maze Five Star Hanger - inspired by throwing stars

Maze

Throwing stars are the unlikely inspiration behind the Maze Five Star Hanger.

Indeed, Fredrik Mattson's design looks very much like the throwing stars have been randomyl fired at the back panel. That's obviously not the case though - not least on the grounds of safety, with all the stars featuring rounded edges (to protect your clothing) and because all the stars have been carefully placed to provide maximum hanging space.

Sold in either either white or in a red flock, it retails for £45.

Olivier Droillard Dita coffee table for Habitat

Dita

We seem to be on a colour theme today on Switched On Set. Purely by accident, but we might as well run with it and indeed add to it with the Habitat Dita coffee table.

It looks like an oversized set of child's blocks and to be honest, that's what it is. The work of Olivier Droillard, it combines lacquered coloured panels with dark stained oak veneered MDF to produce something a bit more fun than the average functional coffee table.

Sized at 65 x 25 x 106cm, it retails for £249.

Iconic Motors mixes the old and the new with the GTR Roadster

Gtr

Vintage looks with state-of-the-art technology - that's the newly-launched GTR Roadster.

The work of US-based Iconic Motors, it uses a 6.9-litre V8 engine, which offers a top speed of 200mph-plus - not that you'll get anywhere near that on UK roads. Other features include F1-derived racing suspension, 'jewellery-quality' switchgear and 'synthetic sapphire push-button actuators'. Whatever that means. Let's be honest, speed and looks alone should sell the car.

Just 100 will go in production - when and for how much isn't clear as yet.

Casio's colourful G5500C G-Shock watches

Gshock_colour

Casio has a new G-Shock on the market, with the G5500C available in the colours of the Italian flag.

Why those colours? No idea, but they certainly look striking in the picture above. The colours aren't the only selling point though - the watch is also equipped with a highly sensitive solar panel, along with a high capacity rechargeable battery to help keep the battery-intensive functions ticking along. And the display has automatic illumination when it’s angled towards your eyes - clever stuff indeed.

Aside from that, it's packed with all the features you would expect from a modern-day digital, selling for $120 (£60) in the US. I've tried to find a UK seller, but so far without success. Saying that, I expect it to be here soon enough.

Alan Chan Altimeter watch

Altimeter I do like the monochrome simplicity of the Altimeter watch, the work of Hong Kong designer Alan Chan.

The design concept was inspired by the navigating instrument which locates times and directions, with the lines are arranged so that each fine line denotes a minute whilst each bold line denotes an hour. Or you could just look at where the hands are and make a rough guess.

It's for sale at the V&A as part of its China Design Now range. Or indeed online at the V&A shop - either way, it retails for £50.
