In truth, it's as much to do with the past as the present, that white plastic casing looking very 70s space age. But just check out that display - big, bold and unlike anything we've seen before. In terms of functions, it offers that large display, a backlight, snooze and 24-hour setting.

Sony Ericsson PS3-friendly Aino mobile phone

It's not quite the PlayStation phone that was widely rumoured, but the newly-launched Sony Ericsson Aino mobile phone does interact rather nicely with your PlayStation 3 console.

Using Remote Play software, you can access the media (but not the games) on your console and with PlayTV software too, you can connect to your PS3 to pause, watch and record live TV on your phone, wherever you are in the world.

Other features include wireless connectivity with your PC, an 8.1-megapixel camera (packed with extra features), a 3-inch touchscreen for control, quality audio playback (wireless stereo headphones are included) and just about everything else you might expect from a top notch, modern-day handset. Look out for it later this year in black or white, priced according to the contract you sign.

Skull Cave from Thorsten Van Elten

It's like a cave...in the shape of a skull! How chuffed would all little boys (and probably most girls) be if they could have one of these! None of your namby-pamby wigwam stuff  - no offence intended to owners of wigwams, but Skull Cave is just pretty cool.

Made from recycled plastic Skull Cave unscrews and rolls up in super-quick time. When assembled it measures 100cm wide x 90cm high, so too small for us grown ups which would add to it's appeal to kids.
