Sodtherich limited edition silkscreen print by Chu

Inspired by the London Underground (and no doubt by the current financial climate) is this Sodtherich limited edition silkscreen print by Chu.

Certain to catch the eye as well as amuse, the print is sized around 70 x 50cm and is a two colour hand pulled screen print on thick recycled paper stock. Just 250 prints have been made, each one signed stamped and numbered by the artist.

Kartell-like Glass Dome pendant light at BHS

Ok, BHS (formerly British Home Stores) isn't exactly the first place we would look for interesting design. But we have looked there - and we've found this Glass Dome pendant light, which is perfect for adding a 70s twist to your home, as well as giving the impression of a more designer light.

In fact, the light we're thinking of is the Kartell FL/Y suspension light by Ferruccio Laviani, a modern-day classic with a retro twist and available for the best part of £150. This has a similar look, but a different construction, the BHS version is actually made of glass and available in three colour options, sized around 20cm in height and 30cm in width.

Right now, you can pick up the BHS shades for £22 - or the plum even cheaper at £15.40 in the sale.

Petite Friture Tidelight by Pierre Favresse

Like the lights on your car? Well, you can get something similar for the home, thanks to the Petite Friture Tidelight by Pierre Favresse.

This floor lamp does indeed take inspiration from the car industry, both in texture and shape. The lamp offers up a diffused light via the transparent blown glass diffuser and its striped surface, while the cork base just adds a bit of novelty.

Tom Dixon Orb Light range

Another classy (and soon to be classic) light from Tom Dixon - the Orb Light.

Classic because the design, whilst packing a touch of retro, is pretty timeless. For your money, you get a spherical glass shade in two sizes, each made of blown opaque glass that emits a white, diffused light. The light is then finished off with a satin-finish brass fitting.

Two sizes as we said, with prices starting at £361.25.
