Lightyears Calabash suspension light range by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen

A new piece of Scandinavian design with a classic twist in the Lightyears Calabash suspension light range by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen.

Apparently inspired by the shape of the Calabash pumpkin or squash, each light is fitted with a reflector to increase the down light, a 'warm and dazzle free' illumination which is suitable for energy saving bulbs.

Available in three sizes (21cm, 30.5cm and 48.4cm high) Calabash has a chromed finish and is available in four colours - silver, black, gold and red. Prices start at £159.

Samsung takes aim at the iPad with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9

Apple's iPad 2 lands in the UK this Friday, but Samsung has decided to throw some doubt in our mind by offering up an all-new tablet of its own - the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.

Apparently, this is the thinnest tablet on the market, a super-slim 8.6mm thin to be precise. It also packs the latest Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system, packing a 1280x800 WXGA display, a 1GHz dual core processor, a 3-megapixel camera for stills and video recording and a 2-megapixel on the front for video calling. Plenty of connectivity too -  USB, Wi-Fi, HSPA+ and Bluetooth 3.0 for example.

Choose from 16GB, 32GB or 64GB models when it lands, probably in the next couple of months. Price? No word on that yet, but it's likely to be competitive with the new iPad.

Nemo Crown suspension light by Jehs and Laub

The classic chandelier has had a modern makeover with the Nemo Crown suspension light by Jehs and Laub.

That's essentially what it is, feature lighting taking inspiration from the candle chandelier, with the option to expand the light from one to two levels, should you want double the glass diffusers.

The entire structure is made of aluminium and the price is £574.
