Citroen C1 Ev'ie - the electric car goes mainstream in the UK

Citroen

No longer a strange Noddy-like vehicle, the Citroen C1 Ev'ie looks just like any other car - except this one will do 70 miles of driving for just 90p.

The main body is the Citroen C1, produced by Citroen itself before being shipped to UK firm Electric Car Corporation (ECC), which sorts out the eco side. That results in a battery on board that can travel up to 70 miles per charge, with each charge costing around 90p and taking something like six hours to do. It's a nippy little car too, able to do around 60mph, on the open road.

If you want one, £16,850 is the price and pre-orders are now being taken. 500 will be made this year, with between 2,000 and 4,000 following in 2010. A bit pricey, bit with fuel savings and no road tax, you might make it back over the long term.
