Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A9 Wireless Speaker

It looks like some mad 1960s design (not least because of those legs). But this is actually cutting edge audio, the Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A9 Wireless Speaker.

Designed very much with style as much as substance, this large disc with those retro-styled angled legs is ready to connect up to your existing kit to play music with all the quality you would expect from B&O.

It allows you to connect via built-in Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay and DLNA to hook up to your home network, packing two midrange speakers, two tweeters and a dedicated bass driver for the audio. It also has onboard touch controls to allow you to change volume or mute with just a sweep of your hand. Some power too - a combined 480 watt amplifier output means enough power to fill a larger room without distortion or loss of detail.

The downside, as you would expect from B&O, is the price. This stunner retails for £1.699.
