Foscarini Stewie floor lamp by Luca Nichetto

Fos1

Seems odd that a light is named after a character from Family Guy (which it is), but we still love the Foscarini Stewie floor lamp by Luca Nichetto.

It's an interesting design, one that would work in both a cutting edge or a retro environment - there's definitely a touch of the midcentury here, perhaps down to those legs, with the overall shape hinting at past space age design.

Regardless of that, this is a floor lamp first and foremost, one that is made from a heat-shaped, expanded polyethylene covered by a fabric and say on those metal legs, throwing off a 'warm' and 'soft' light for a room. Mood lighting rather than directional light, if you like, creating a similar atmosphere to a fire. When not in use, the light will look pretty good too - the shape should be a talking point.

It requires a fluorescent 40W bulb and sells for £644.
