2011 is the 50th anniversary of the Penguin Modern Classics and over time, the series has become pretty much an A-Z of short fiction from the last century. Beckett to Kafka, Nabokov to Saki, Updike to Wodehouse, they're all here and more. Indeed, all are essential reads for anyone with a thirst ofr literature.

To celebrate the 50 years, you can pick up the classic '50' individually in the silver and white covers for £3 each or you can order a box set with all the books in, as well as getting the storage box featuring 50 Mini Modern author pictures. That sells online for £150.

Popville - pop-up cityscape book by Anouck Boisrobert, Louis Rigaud and Joy Sorman

Popville

For the budding architect in your family, or simply someone with a fascination with buildings comes Popville by Anouck Boisrobert, Louis Rigaud and Joy Sorman.

It's the development of a city in book form, with each page of the pop-up book corresponding to a moment of the city's development. Some urban and landscape elements remain constant references for the growth of the city, while others just disappear and make place to new ones.

For lovers of buildings, it's got 'Christmas gift' written all over it. Price? £15.

Time Out London Banksy special edition

Banksy-time-out-2

If you're in London (or happen to have a well-stocked newsagent in another city), you might want to get yourself up early on 2nd March 2010 (that's tomorrow) to get the Time Out London Banksy special edition.

Or you can bag one online. Either way, the listings mag has a 'huge' poster as part of a special edition, descrived as 'a mixture of self-portraiture and his trademark use of spraypaint' and is 'unlike anything he's ever done for a magazine before and may never be repeated'. Size? That's around 682mmm x 515mm.

if you miss out at the newsagents, you can buy magazines + poster or the magazine alone for £12.99 or £10 respectively right now at the Time Out website. While stocks last obviously. Oh yes, proceeds from each sale will be donated to the Haiti earthquake relief effort.
