Pentax K-x digital SLR reissued in a rainbow of colours

Remember the Pentax K-x? It launched back in 2009, offering a bold red alongside the usual black for the colour option. Well, that obviously went down well as the Pentax K-x has been reissued once more in a rainbow of shades.

Eight new colours are added to the mix - beige, chocolate, metal fuchsia, pink, metal turquoise, metal dark grey, olive green and soft brown, all offering a 12.4-megapixel CMOS image sensor, shake reduction, a 2.7-inch live view screen, HD video capture, lots of processing and filter modes to produce a unique set of snaps and 4.7 frames per second continuous shooting. There's also beginner-friendly auto and scene modes and a healthy 1,900 shots from AA batteries.

Sold in limited edition sets with the 18-55mm lens, it's ours for £600.

Sanyo announces latest Xacti dual cameras - GH1, G100 and VG20

We love the Sanyo Xacti camera/camcorder range. In fact, I personally own one, seduced by the ease of use and the retro super-8 looks. So it's good to see the range getting an update for 2010 with the GH1, G100 and VG20. Although the GH1 does go for a more traditional camcorder profile.

All capture movie footage in 1080i HD, also capturing stills with a resolution of up to 14 megapixels. In addition, the GH1 and G100 also feature the 12x double range zoom, as well as a wide angle and a tele-oriented field of view at the touch of a button. Other features include a rotating 2.7-inch LCD display, that same ease of use, the option to take photos and record videos simultaneously, image stabilisation and face detection and recording to SD, SDHC or SDXC card.

Expect to pay around £229 for the Xacti GH1, £229 for the Xacti G100 and £179 for the Xacti VG20, all of which are on the shelves from March.

Olympus launches the Pen E-PL1 micro four thirds camera

The original Olympus E-P1 camera went down a storm on our Retro To Go site last year, with the exception of the price tag. Well, Olympus has dealt with that with the newly-launched Olympus Pen E-PL1 camera - but it's bad news for fans of those retro looks.

Yes, as the price has been cut, some of the design has been stripped out too, leaving us with something altogether more bland, but still packing all that clever micro four thirds technology, which Olympus hopes will appeal to wannabe serious photographers who don't fancy dragging round a bulky digital-SLR.

Pentax goes Dieter Rams with the Optio H90 digital camera

On our Retro To Go site yesterday, we featured the distinctly retro Pentax Optio I-10. In the comments related to that camera, another new launch was pointed out - the Pentax Optio H90 digital camera.

It's not quite as retro as the I-10, but it does look like it could have come straight out of the Dieter Rams design catalogue - the kind of stylish but functional design the great man was known for.

Samsung NX10 hybrid D-SLR camera officially launches

Not your average digital-SLR snapper, the Samsung NX10 is a hybrid, which effectively means it offers most if not all of the features, but without the bulk.

In terms of specifics, that means a 14.6-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, super-fast auto focus, a 3-inch AMOLED display and the option to shoot 720p  HD video as well.

What isn't cler (as yet) is whether less bulk means less money, especially as the camera doesn't allow you to use anything but the new NX-friendly lenses, adding a bit more cash onto the final price. We'll find out soon as it hits the shelves in spring.
